eXtras Student Savings Account: Everything You Need to Know

As a student (or a parent of a student), navigating the world of finance can often feel like traversing a complex maze. Between tuition fees, textbooks and everyday expenses, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

With Apple Federal Credit Union, you have the perfect solution tailored just for you – our eXtras Student Savings account. This account is specifically designed to teach students about saving while maximizing their balance with zero fees and premium dividends.

In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about our eXtras Student Savings account, including how to get started today.

What is an eXtras Student Savings account?

Our eXtras Student Savings account is specifically designed for and exclusively available to Apple FCU members aged 23 and younger. Whether you're a parent opening a small nest egg for your toddler, a middle school student learning the value of saving or a college student managing living expenses, this account is designed to support you every step of the way.

3 Benefits of an eXtras Student Savings Account

No Fees, No Minimums

Financial institutions often burden students with hidden fees and minimum balance requirements, hindering their ability to build their savings. With the eXtras Student Savings account, Apple FCU removes these barriers.

There are no monthly service fees, and no minimum balance is required to open or maintain the account. This ensures that you can focus on saving without worrying about unnecessary charges eating into your funds.

Parental Access

While this account empowers students to take control of their finances, we recognize the importance of parental guidance.

As a joint owner, parents have complete access to the account. This means they can monitor progress, offer advice and provide support as students navigate their financial journey.

NCUA Insurance

At Apple Federal Credit Union, your financial security is of utmost importance. That's why the eXtras Student Savings account is insured by the NCUA.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is an independent federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions. Your deposits in the eXtras Student Savings Account are protected up to $250,000 per depositor, providing you with peace of mind knowing that your hard-earned savings are safe and secure.

How do I open an eXtras Student Savings account?

To open an eXtras Student Savings account, the child or accountholder must first become a member.

Once your (or your child's) membership is established, you can open the account through your Apple FCU Online Banking or Mobile App profile. Simply click Student under Add a Product to get started.

The eXtras Student Savings account is more than just a place to stash your cash. It's a powerful tool designed to empower young members on their journey towards financial independence.
