The Major Branch was the second student branch to go live. Started in 1999, Hope Kent has brought financial literacy topics to Mt. Vernon High School generating hundreds of student accounts for Apple FCU. The Major Branch, feeding off lessons learned from Joyce Bell and The Lancer Branch, has helped evolve the program through varying approaches to the Student Run Program showing that each school must adapt the program to its specific school.

Mt Vernon HS won the annual "Branch of the Year Award" for the 2005-2006 school year. Under the guidance of Berkeley McHugh, the Major branch continues to be one of the oldest and strongest branches in the SRCU program.
